The starter on my two year old Cub Cadet XT1 was failing intermittently when hot. Then it pretty much crapped out completely. Replacing the starter was relatively easy. The tractor started first time. I turned it off and it started just as easily the second time. I guess it works, but so did the original for only two year, so I can only hope this one has a longer life. My old tractor was over 15 years old and I never had to replace a starter.One of the reasons I bought this starter was because the weight of the starter was listed as 11 lbs, so I felt that it may be more substantial than those 6 lb starters I was seeing on Amazon. Years ago I had the experience of buying aftermarket car parts and they seemed very lightweight and were junk. As soon as the starter was delivered, I put it on a scale to verify that it was really that heavy. It wasn't! It weighed 6 lbs and some odd ounces. They should change that weight specification because it is misleading. But it does work. We will see for how long.Update: The weight of the starter was around 6 lbs, not 11 lbs as indicated in the specifications. I assume that was an estimate of the shipping weight and not the true weight. BTW, the starter is still working fine.
